September 24, 2023: Carpet, lights, painted doors

 We have all the lights installed, along with the carpeting.  All the doors are painted and ready for hardware.  We are less than 5 weeks till closing!

September 17, 2023: a HUGE week!

 This week started with the bricks getting delivered on Tuesday!

Then, we came back on Friday evening to:

the bricks installed

The cabinets and countertops installed

 

The vinyl plank flooring installed

Doors and trim installed

The lighting is in the garage ready to go in

It's all happening quickly now as we are less than six weeks till we move in!

September 10, 2023: HVAC, locked our interest rate, ceiling fans

 This week one of the two things we've been waiting for were installed: the HVAC.  Where ARE those bricks?!  Anyway, we walked into the house this week to ice cold AC.  No thermostat installed yet, so we're guessing it's just wide open!  ;)

We also locked in the interest rate on September 8th (7%) as rates have been a little higher lately and because are only ~7 weeks from closing.  

We also bought 5 ceiling fans this week.  They are all the same style and will be used in the 3 bedrooms, the living room, and the dining room.  They are white with light kits and are meant to blend into the white ceilings.  They can be operated using our smart phones which is handy.  We need to buy one more fan for the back, screened-in, covered porch - that's wet rated and doesn't have a light.  We are going to put lights all around that back porch so one in the fan feels superfluous.

It's so fun to check on it and so fun to know that we are getting so close.  What are you looking forward to seeing installed?

September 3: Paint and Power

 You know we're going to see the house more regularly since things are progressing so quickly; it's fun to see the changes.  Wednesday, we saw they had painted the entire inside of the house (save the garage) the flat white that comes with the house and will serve as a perfect primer when we paint.  

How do/will we pick paint colors for the house, you ask?!  We get swatches and put them up on the walls and look at the color in all the different types of lighting (full sun, windows closed, dark with the lights on, etc.) and if it looks good in all the lighting, we pick one.  We haven't hated our choices with this method and we have employed it about 6-7x.  :)  We tend to lean toward our favorites: blues, greens, and yellows.

They also buried the power lines and placed the meter reader on the house!  They are going to lock the door soon and then we'll have to go during business hours so we can get the key from the sales office. 

Next things to watch for: bricks, HVAC
