Last wall: Aruba blue. It’s still wet when I took the photos. Again, the colors are better in person. 🤩
The Office |
LouAnna became very sick and slept from Tuesday at 6:45pm until basically Saturday at 9am. 😮💨🤧😴 That put us a bit behind schedule with the painting. But today, with proper ventilation, a painting mask, and frequent breaks, we painted Rachel’s room. These colors are not photographing correctly at all but are awesome in person! Light green and a light lavender. 😍
Each evening after work, we'd drop off and unpack a load of boxes at the new house and go back to the rental house and load the car for the next day. Mostly kitchen, bath and closets since those can be unpacked right away and we can reuse the boxes again for another load.
Chris set up the inflatable hot tub and it's now up to temperature so we can use that in the evenings for our achy, aging bodies.
Friday morning, Home Depot came back out and finished setting up the gas range and dishwasher and they look great!
Saturday, LouAnna finished painting the laundry room (just needs the white trim installed) and then started on the office. LouAnna trimmed out and Chris rolled/painted 3 of the walls but left the accent wall since it'll be a different color. LouAnna was exhausted and started to feel badly so we called it a day.
Poor ventilation resulted in LouAnna getting Painters Flu. We didn't even know that was a thing. She has a sore throat, body aches, headache, runny nose and occasional cough. She's been resting 90% of Sunday while Chris ran a load of boxes to the new place. Random things are ending up in random boxes but it all has to get to the new house eventually so, who cares?! We are taking our time and letting Two Men and a Truck get the furniture and big stuff on November 18th.
Happy Halloween! 🎃👻
It’s closing day! ✍🏻🔑🏠
We spent four hours at the house this morning. Chris supervised the kitchen appliance delivery and installation of the microhood and refrigerator. They need to come back out “another day” to do the dishwasher and range. That’s annoying since we took today off work. They also didn’t clean up after themselves. 😒
Meanwhile, LouAnna painted the island wall. Kitchen, living room, dining room, master bedroom are now all painted. 👏🏻
*colors are not accurate in photos
Chris painted/rolled the top half of the laundry room and then LouAnna trimmed it out. All that is left is to trim out the bottom half of the laundry room (Chris rolled/painted that yesterday) and install the white railing. 😍
That was good enough. We headed back to shower and get ready for closing at 4pm. We put 4 of the boxes we have already packed in the car 🚗 and the inflatable hot tub in the 🛻 and went to Closing.

It’s official! Chris and LouAnna are homeowners! 🥳🏡🤩
We grabbed some food, then headed to our new house! We unpacked the first 4 boxes and saw our first snow. 😳😬🌨️❄️🥶 We will put the hot tub up another day.
Just 18 days until the movers come so we better get packing! 😳😬📦😉
Today’s pictures don’t reflect the amount of work exerted. The yellow got a complete 2nd coat (3 rooms) and we finished the master bedroom. We started on the Irish laundry room and then cleaned up all the paint splatters
Chris is going to work tomorrow (he needs a break) and LouAnna has a massage on the books. The builder is going to clean the entire inside as they didn’t get a chance yet. Tuesday is more painting and closing! We are gonna set up the hot tub first thing because…we ache. But it looks amazing and we love it so far!!!! Building a home. #nesting
Another late start due to our bodies needing more time to recover from all the trips up and down the ladder. We left at about 7pm again
All the ceiling fans are up and functional. There’s an app and remote. 🤩
Living room accent wall is done and the accent wall in the master is done. We trimmed out the rest of the master.
Yellow needs touched in many places. That we’ll tackle tomorrow along with finishing the master bedroom.
We are so beat. We are feeling our age for sure! 🤣
Again, colors photograph differently…
So, we found out yesterday that closing is delayed until October 31st at 4pm due to the water not being turned on. They allowed us to do the walk-through this morning so we could still start painting since we took off work to start painting. We also have the kitchen appliances being delivered and installed on Tuesday. We just cannot begin moving in until Tuesday after closing. So, we commenced painting and installing ceiling fans.
Didn’t get started until1pm (quit at 7pm) but 2 ceiling fans installed, Kitchen, dining room, and 3/4 of living room are all painted!
Color doesn’t look right in the photos. But you get the idea…
Not much happened this week on the new place. The painted the back porch and then the screens go in. We are getting close now.
The biggest change this week is the doorknobs.
Or was it the thermostat?
Just kidding. It’s the siding! It’s finished! We love it!!
It was another huge week of progress at Chez Eichrodt 2.0. The back porch was framed and will be screened. LouAnna is looking forward to spending a lot of time out here when the temps are above 65° (she prefers 70+).
They primed all the walls and painted all the trim. The plumbing fixtures (faucets, toilets, utility sink, water heater) went in, as well.
We are less than 4 weeks away from closing!!
